Liquor store–Heights Wines & Spirits–an entire wall of kosher wines offers an amazing selection–4474 Broadway, above 188th–if you want to send wine to your host/ess, he delivers: 646.726.4102; the owner wants to serve the community
Bakery–Gruenebaum’s, 810 West 187 St. (the sign says “Gideon’s”)–walk down 187th until you see a tall flight of stairs (130 steps)–walk up and you’re at Ft. Washington and 187th; go a half-block more
Tailor–Mr. and Mrs. Saketos are a husband-wife team who do excellent alterations and repairs–212.740.7726. Call ahead. They’re at 395 Ft. Washington Ave., Apt.31.
